USAG threatens lawsuit over limited registration exercise

The University Students Association of Ghana (USAG), has threatened to drag the Electoral Commission to court if it does not extend the duration of the limited registration exercise to enable more students on university campuses across the country to register. According to USAG, an extension will prevent students from being  disenfranchised. Various stakeholders have expressed concern about the inadequate number of registration centers on the various university campuses. USAG has already indicated that less than 10 percent of eligible student voters have been able to register, hence their call for the extension. Speaking to Citi News, President of USAG, Henry Nkosuo Boakye said USAG may be forced to take the EC to court if the situation persists. “We would follow the procedures as clearly enshrined in the 1992 constitution of Ghana and seek our reliefs. We will head to court. We will file a petition.
