The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Nabdam Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaani has vowed to unseat the incumbent Member of Parliament and a member of the New Patriotic Party, Boniface Gambil.
Mr. Nawaani said he will achieve this with his socio-economic policies to transform Nabdam. He said his policies on agriculture, education and health will create more job opportunities for the youth and women in the constituency which is predominately a farming community. Dr. Nawaani disclosed this after donating 699 mathematical sets to about 647 final year candidates registered for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination in the Nabdam district.
The Parliamentary nominee noted that, educational opportunities are better than before but Nabdam residents were yet to reach their fullest potential and his contribution in the district with government infrastructural support will facilitate the realization of economic prospect through education. He added that, establishment of community libraries furnished with modern learning materials in the various zones of the constituency can significantly boost learning.
The Nabdam constituency has no district hospital andpatients in critical medical conditions go to the Bolgatanga regional hospital but the medical doctor, Dr. Nawaani promised to facilitate the establishment of a Nabdam district hospital. Dr. Nawaani reiterated that creation of more dams to enable all year round farming was key to reduce poverty in the area. “Nabdams are very hard working but the problem is that, they farm for only six months but are unable to farm for the remaining months due to non-availability of rains. The main thing is to create a lot more mini-dams across the constituency and if this is done, the typical Nabdam don’t need anybody to help him in terms of food, donations and other things” Dr. Nawaani said.
Dr. Nawaani is currently constructing the Yakote bridge that had collapsed for several years now and promised to build a party office for the constituency. He reiterated the unflinching support by majority of the constituents will ensue his victory on November 7.
