Greg Clarke: Conservatives have done 'incredibly well'

Giving his post election analysis, Communities Secretary Greg Clarke says the Conservatives have "done incredibly well" while Labour has "failed to connect" with ordinary people.
He argues that even Michael Foot - Labour leader from 1980 to 1983 - won 1,000 local election seats in his first year despite going on to lose the 1983 general election, but Jeremy Corbyn had achieved far fewer.
Results so far show the Conservatives have won 475 local council seats in England, Labour 780, the Lib Dems 173 and UKIP 28.
I think it's an extraordinary achievement for a Conservative party in its sixth year of government to be able to do this. I think it's been a good night."
