Each member of the team received a cheque for the said amount after their 4-0 thrashing over Tunisia in the Africa Women’s Championship qualifier on Tuesday.
Coach Yusif Basigi’s side were owed by the government after securing a win against Zimbabwe in an Olympic Games qualifier.
The team which will be participating in this year’s Women’s Championship in Cameroon finally got some relief after receiving their outstanding windfall.
"Certainly, this is a pleasant surprise and we're happy about it. But our joy will be complete when the rest of the bonuses, including our double victory over Tunisia, are paid," captain Mercy Myles said.
Sports Minister Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuje also promised the team will receive further payment of their win against Tunisia before they embark for the Championship later this year. |
